Drag queens and brunch, Oh My!

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

Have you been to the new House of Blues yet in Anaheim? If the ansewer is no, maybe you're not the concert going type, but you gotta be the likes to laugh and loves to eat type. I mean what kind of person doesn't like to laugh and eat, right? The Drag brunch is full time shenanigans that'll having you shimmying in your seat and have you popping at the seems after all that food and laughter.

I visited Drag Brunch, not really knowing what to expect - it was my first time. I wondered if it would be anything like Drag Bingo (which by the way it wasn't, unless I've been going to the wrong drag bingos). This was so much more fun and up beat from beginning to end. I arrived early and waited in the atrium where I had a glass of champagne, played a little cornhole and took some pictures, while I waited for the doors to the stage to open.

When the doors opened I was escorted to my seat , I sat my bag down ordered drinks and sprinted for the buffet. The buffet is complete with Southern-inspired brunch favorites such as a jambalaya, jalapeno-cheese cornbread, collard greens, savory carving stations, omelet station, chicken & waffle station, even homemade pastries like their deliscious bread pudding, seasonal fruit, cocktail specials and so much more. I had a little of everything, I didn't make it to the omelet station but I fixed my self up some chicken and waffles, a breakfast plate, and a lunch plate then headed back to the table to set up my feast. My favorites were the carving station, the collard greens, and the mac & cheese, I loaded my plate with it and went back for more - the corn bread and bread pudding were great too. I wanted to go back for thirds, but I just couldn't fit anymore in my belly.

Drinks like juice tea, water and soft drinks are included in the price but if you'd like something a little harder they have drink specials including bottomless mimosas and carafes with your choice of cranberry juice or O.J. and a whole bottle of champagne to share with your table - There's also a fully stocked bar so whatever you'd like to drink you can get.

They give you plenty of time to get settled in to serve your food, eat, have some drinks, before the show begins and the buffet remains open the entire show so theres' no need to feel rushed to go back and get something you may have forgotten the first time around and plenty of time to go back for dessert as well.

The show begins maybe thirty minutes after the stage opens and then the shenanigans begin- jokes, dancing and up close interaction with the audience are what make the show so fun. There's even a bam-chicka-bow-bow strip tease performance and if your'e a fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race - geek out for season 6 contestant Gia Gunn who also takes the stage in some fabulous, glitzy costumes. Let Gia and the roster of drag queens delight you with their music, moves and comedy!

After the show, stick around for a meet & greet with the queens and pick up some merch from your favorite drag queens!

The Drag Brunch is only once a month so check out the schedule here and make a brunch date with your fun squad!
