A cute little neighborhood to visit when in Vancouver is Gastown - Vancouver's first downtown core. Gastown is the home of the the Gassy Jack statue and the cobblestones of Water Street and beyond, It's really quite picturesque and a great place to have a bite, do a little shopping or take a bike tour, also available are walking food tours, ghost tours and photography tours.

So a little history on "Gassy" Jack - You could say "Gassy" Jack Deighton is the Gastown pioneer, he opened the area's first saloon in 1867 The town soon prospered as the site of Hastings Mill sawmill, seaport, and quickly became a general centre of trade and commerce as well as a rough-and-rowdy resort for off-work loggers and fishermen and vacationers like me!
Vancouver's Flat Iron
his building is like a mini flat iron building, not quite sure what's in the building if it's residential or commercial or a mix of both , but I loved it! It reminded me so much of the flat iron building in New York.
Gastown Steam Clock
This clock is a big attraction in steam town people gather around it because it blows out steam and a tune every quarter hour from its five whistles. The clock was built in 1977 by horologist Raymond Saunders and metalwork specialist Doug Smith. Saunders was hired by Gastown’s local merchants to build the clock as a monument and by placing it over a steam grate it kept local homeless from sleeping on the warm spot.
Grab a bite to eat: have your choice of one of the sit down restaurants all around town, or get a dog, and enjoy the view!
And if you're looking for a little something sweet don't forget to try the cheesecake. It's Vancouver's best and there's both indoor and outdoor seating it's actually a great view of the steam clock, so sit back and enjoy the view.
