There's A New Food Fest On The Block!

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

The Brand Boulevard block in Glendale hosted the first Brand Boulevard Block Party. The block between Colorado Street and Caruso Avenue was closed off the motorist and filled with booths of the city's best eats! Surrounded by beautiful architecture, the Americana on one side and the new foodie block on the other that is home to Shake Shack, Philz Coffee and Mainland Poke who were all participants in the event along with many others.

The event was just what you'd expect of a block party. For starters it was only one block making it really intimate. The string lights and simple floral centerpieces on the picnic style seating gave the event much charisma. The food was not only great, but the portions were hefty! I tell you - you were not going to leave this event hungry - these weren't your mini spoon sized tastings. The Tsujita served giant bowls of ramen I saw it and I still can't believe it, large regular sized bowls made right in-front of you in giant stock pots and a fixins setup to customize your ramen to your liking.

Shake Shack another generous tasting; a whole cheeseburger made to order and even a coupon for free ice cream on our next visit. Generous is an understatement. and For Dessert and Coffee The big servers were The Pie Hole serving whole mini pies and cold brew , Porto's Bakery serving their classics and a few new items and Philz coffee serving a variety of their roasts. - The other tasting although not full sized plates were still very large and unlimited. I never thought I would say this, but I'm glad they weren't ALL serving extremely large portions because it gave me the opportunity to try a lot more of the restaurants so near to me. Let me make it clear though this does not mean I want smaller portions next year. They were perfect and I loved them. The tastings will forever be "BRAND"ed into my mind!

Tickets to the event were $50 for early birds and $60.00 at the door and they included tastings from all of the participating restaurants , breweries and wineries and best of all a portion of ticket sales benefited C-Cap a program that provides scholarships, education and career opportunities in the culinary arts to at-risk high school students throughout the nation. Let me just say I would have loved if this program had been available to me when I was in High School I could have started doing what I loved a whole lot sooner not to mention save myself thousands in Culinary School tuition. This Is such a great program for teenagers!
