October 17th was the very first annual "Off the Hook" seafood festival at the Santa Monica Pier. It was perfect weather and the perfect setting for a seafood event. Upon receiving your wrist band to get into the event you are greeted by a mermaid and then are free to walk around for unlimited tastings of food and drinks from seafood restaurants in the area.
One of my favorites of the night was the Lobster Corn dog it truly surprised me how much I liked it, the lobster dog was spicy and the sweetness of the cornbread was such a great balance of flavors. The Jolly oyster was there and if you've seen my blog about them you know I love their oysters - so fresh and tasty! You can never be dissatisfied with an event that the Jolly Oyster's at. I can go on and on with a list of restaurants but believe me there were many and they were all great. Beers and drinks were also included in the tastings and even a Bloody Mary bar were guests were free to top of their drinks with an array of Bloody Mary toppings.
The fun didn't stop at the food there was a band to get your boogie on, corn hole, a photo booth with Lobster props and other photo opps even the Yelp table had a game of beer pong for your chance to win a Yelp mug and the L.A. Weekly booth had a spin wheel for your chance to win prizes. I won a "Two Broke Girls" DVD! For a sweet end to the festivities the famous Salt & Straw was there with their incredible sweet and salty ice cream favorites!
It was such a well organized event. It will definitely be one of those events I make sure to attend again. Check out the video below to see what you missed and make sure to you don't miss it again next year.
